What Will Your Child Learn in Montessori Grade 0?
Montessori School’s preschool preparation is a
comprehensive programme built around the natural developmental patterns
of children aged 5–7. Grade 0 prepares children intellectually,
emotionally, socially and psychologically for primary school.
Work across Montessori learning zones:
- Practical Life (EPL) — exercises in independence
and everyday skills - Sensorial Development — developing perception and
the senses - Mathematics — numbers, logic and spatial
reasoning - Language — reading, writing and vocabulary
- Cultural Studies — science, geography and the
natural world
Children also receive foundational music education — the teacher
helps each child discover and develop their natural voice during
preparatory class sessions.
Mathematics — Grade 0 curriculum:
- Introduction to the decimal system
- Addition, subtraction and multiplication
- Fractions — basic understanding through Montessori materials
- Working with numbers from 1 to 100
- Creating a mathematics roll
- Solving equations with +, −, ×
Ukrainian Language — Grade 0 curriculum:
- Expanding vocabulary
- Building words using the Montessori moveable alphabet
- Working with the alphabet roll
- Developing phonemic awareness and early reading skills
- Preparing the hand for writing through specialised exercises
World Studies and Socialisation:
- Foundational knowledge of the universe, nature and geography
- Building independence and a sense of responsibility
- Developing relationships with peers and adults
- Creative activities: drawing, modelling, arts and crafts
