Montessori at home

Many parents are curious whether it is possible to create a Montessori-environment at home and how to replace play areas and materials used in the kinder-garden.

In general, it is possible, but 100% immersion into a full-fledged Montessori-environment is possible only in a group of different-aged children, under the supervision of qualified Montessori teachers, using various professional materials and play areas. At home, under the parent’s supervision, the child won’t get the necessary influence and education. But, if you choose between outdated methods and the possibility of using any of the available elements of the Montessori-method of education and development, then it is worth choosing the second and make maximum efforts to this.

Here we will talk about the main components that parents can apply at home. But if you subscribe to our  Montessorischool page on Facebook, you’ll be able to find many useful articles and interesting material every day.

The Montessori method is based on 3 main components:

1 – sensitivity

Up to six years, each child goes through six stages of sensitivity development:

  1. Oration development (from 0 to 6 years).
  2. Sensorial development (from 0 to 5.5 years).
  3. Perception and establishment of discipline (from 0 to 3 years).
  4. Mastering and development of fine motility skills (from 1.5 to 5.5 years).
  5. Mastering movements and actions (from 1 to 4 years).
  6. Development of social skills (from 2.5 to 6 years).

And, it is very important for the child to get all the necessary skills in each period of development, since his future life directly depends on: character, abilities, talants, behavior. And usually, there will be no other possibility to correct, develop and add something. Unfortunately.

2- environment

Everything around should be prepared in accordance with the child’s physical abilities at each stage of sensitive development. Only in this case, the child will be able to learn all necessary things and become independent!

3 – teacher

The processes of learning and knowledge must take place inside the child. Pay attention to the method’s important feature – the child is his own teacher for himself! The teacher (or parents) must learn to lead the child to the studies in order to remove themselves and remain in the role of an observer accompanying the process of cognition in children. And here you need to know and apply the main rule of the Maria Montessori: “Help me to do it myself!”.

Studio of painting and creativity

All classes in MONTESSORI SCHOOL are for the child’s development: the development of fine motility skills, logical and creative thinking, the development of creative thinking and self-expression.

With the 4-7 years old children, we have drawing lessons from life, children learn the basics of drawing and painting, learn to make rubbings and draw to their own taste, to express their imagination using watercolor and gouache paints, wax crayons, felt-tip pens and colored pencils. After 6-7 years, the teacher gradually acquaints children with a variety of artistic techniques:
